Camping Foods!

In honor of Camp NaNoWriMo and just to go in general, my other half and I are going camping!! Eek! I’m excited!

So, I was making lists, and checking them twice…

when I realized I should make a tutorial on some “Foil Foods”.

This is a great meal for camping! Follow the instructions below, then you can freeze them until you are ready to go to the camping location.

Hamburger with Potato and Carrots In Foil:

*Pictures are below instructions*

1.5 Lbs Hamburger Meat (ground beef)

1 Cup Cracker Crumbs

1 Egg

1/4 Cup Lemon Juice

1/2 Cup Green Pepper (chopped)

Seasonings of choice ( I used Salt, Pepper, Onion powder, and Weber Smokey Mesquite Seasoning)

Potatoes (I used Ore-Ida Hashbrowns, but you can slice regular potatoes)

Carrots (I used carrot slivers in a bag, but you can cut them if you wish)

Bacon (I used 4 slices per meal)

Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil, cut at about 16 inches (I used non-stick heavy duty x2 per meal)

Combine beef, egg, seasonings, green pepper, cracker crumb and lemon juice into a bowl. Mix together.

Roll desired amount into ball, and shape as an oval/circle

Place the Meat in the center of foil.

Add scoop of Potatoes onto top of meat

Line the rim of meat with two slices of bacon (Spread out potatoes)

Add scoop of Carrots

Cover with Bacon. (Keeps it all together)

Meet edges of  foil and fold continuously until tight.

Fold up both sides of foil

Place in hot coals, on grill or in an oven. Check after 30 minutes. May take 45 min, depending on heat. (If in oven- 350 degrees for 30-45 min)
