Light and Love be with you!

A Thought: Capturing Memories

Have you ever sat down to look at an old photo album, some art work, old videos, or a journal? I do this a lot, usually when I’m cleaning house, and I don’t want to anymore. I enjoy looking through my past. I adore seeing those young faces looking back at me and my mind reeling with memories.

I have to admit, I have a photo addiction. I love to take photos, and I love to keep photos. I don’t want them to be hurt in any way, and I just can’t bring myself to throw them away (even the blurry ones).

I started making albums when I was thirteen. My mother bought me my first “Creative Memories” album. I spent so much time working on it: cutting pictures, taping them to the pages, drawing and organizing. I wanted to make my life memorable for future generations.

If you are a perfectionist, like me, it can become very time consuming. The up side is that you have an amazing artifact that you can pass down to your family. Creative Memories uses acid-free paper, pens, tape, etc. so that your photos won’t be damaged over time.

I have cheated recently and begun using a website where I download my digital photos and create a book to be printed by the company. It’s amazing! Still time consuming, but not as much time is taken from enjoying the day. The company I use is called Shutterfly.

I have also been lucky enough to have my sister move in with me. I was able to share my photo albums and my crazy teenage journals with her. I hate to admit it, but most of them are filled with this boy or that boy and how much I loved them. I can honestly say I was boy-crazy. *Gasps in shock*

These journals are also filled with insecurities and me trying to find myself. I’m not sure if they helped with her journey, but we enjoyed a lot of laughing at my expense.

I created a special journal for my pregnancy that one day my son will be able to read and enjoy. I wrote to him, telling him about my love for him and explaining what his father and I were doing to prepare for his birth. I made his father write inside of it also (not as much, but some). I also kept little trinkets and placed them inside the journal. This was important to me. I wanted to be able to share all of the thoughts and events we went through. I wanted my son to know he was created from love and he was wanted more than anything.

Memories are made every day. Sometimes we lose track of the fact that yesterday is now history and tomorrow will be also.

I want to leave this world with many memories that others can enjoy.

This is why I write. This is why I create.

What do you create?
