Camping Foods!

In honor of Camp NaNoWriMo and just to go in general, my other half and I are going camping!! Eek! I’m excited!

So, I was making lists, and checking them twice…

when I realized I should make a tutorial on some “Foil Foods”.

This is a great meal for camping! Follow the instructions below, then you can freeze them until you are ready to go to the camping location.

1/2 Cup Green Pepper (chopped)

Seasonings of choice ( I used Salt, Pepper, Onion powder, and Weber Smokey Mesquite Seasoning)

Potatoes (I used Ore-Ida Hashbrowns, but you can slice regular potatoes)

Carrots (I used carrot slivers in a bag, but you can cut them if you wish)

Bacon (I used 4 slices per meal)

Directions-

A Thought: Busy Days and Time

Is there ever enough time in a day!?

Wakey, Wakey...

Wakey, Wakey…

Lately it seems that my day ends before I can even begin to wake up properly. I get up, get dressed, get ready to go in a hurry… and then I’m in bed again.

Where does the day go? Does it disappear somehow into thin air?

I have a list of things I need to accomplish at the beginning of everyday. Some can be as mundane as taking the trash off, or washing the dishes… and some are more important like school work, taking my son to school and picking him up.

Snow doesn't help time...

Snow doesn’t help time…

I do understand that the drive to his school (45 min one way) does take a lot of time away from my day, and the drive to school (1.5 hrs one way) does exactly the same. Maybe that is why I seem to feel behind on everything else… I have to focus on other drivers, the road, and how I’m driving during those periods.

If I had a Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang would it help?

I’m going to say no. Even with Chitty, you have to steer… watch out for birds, airplanes, helicopters, and around here: Hot Air Balloons. (For some reason, people really like them in this area)

Maybe Teleporting?

I would venture to say this would help more so… but since the technology isn’t quite available yet, it’s another no. (What if I accidently teleported into the center of a building!)

Tape Recorder to help get my thoughts out?

This is a major no. I would leave it at home on accident every time I needed it, or I’d be talking away and I hadn’t pressed the record button. That would be my luck there.

Well, hmm. Can you think of anything besides hiring an assistant to ride around with me all day?

A purse I made...

A purse I made…

Now, I do have time to relax at some points during a week, and when they come… I don’t want them to end. The problem is – I don’t really know how to relax. My mind is going a hundred miles an hour thinking about all the things I could be fitting into this time period instead of doing nothing. Then, when the time period for rest is done, I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything, and it makes me feel guilty. (This is also the time frame where I become crafty…)

Now onto the awesome thing known to some as “Sleep”.

I love to sleep. I love to nap. I love to dream.

Headed to sleep

Headed to sleep

Sleeping also takes a lot of energy; your brain never stops. Sometimes you can wake up relaxed and at peace with your soul. Other times you have been at work in your dream and you wake up angry, sad, or determined.

Overall, my conclusion is:

This is life… take it as it is. Try your best to accomplish things during the day that make you feel positive about yourself. Make sure to take some time for just you too… even if it does make you feel guilty. Happiness is what you make it!

Where is your favorite place to relax?

On a beach? In your bed? On a recliner? On a rock atop a mountain?

My County.

Camp NANOWRIMO April 2013

Camp NANOWRIMO April 2013

Camp NANOWRIMO- April 2013

Camp NANOWRIMO- April 2013

It’s almost time for Camp NANOWRIMO!

I’m super excited to find out who my “cabin-mates” will be!

If you’re looking at the screen with an awkward expression… let me explain.

Camp NANOWRIMO is FREE adventure for writers, artists, graphic designers, etc. It’s an imaginary place where people across the world gather together (over the internet) to encourage one another on a personal goal. This Camp is from April 1st through April 30th, so make sure to register now!

Here are the steps:

1.)    Go to this website: Camp NANOWRIMO and sign up!

2.)    Upload a pic of yourself, and information you feel comfortable allowing others to see.

3.)    Choose your goal. ANY GOAL. Mine is to write 30,000 words in the month of April. A few more examples would be: Create a book cover every day in April, Write a blog post every day in April. (Something that challenges you, if it’s your first time and you don’t feel comfortable with one a day, try one every other day.)

4.)    Go to the “Community” tab and click the first link “Cabin Settings.” This is where you choose who is in your “Cabin.” (Your personal group of encouraging buddies) Choose one of the following options:

  1. I don’t want to be included in a cabin.
  2. Surprise me with random cabin mates!
  3. I’m looking for campers that match specific criteria.

5.)    If you are going to write a novel, go to the “Camper Profile” tab and click the second link, “My Novels.” This is where you input your book-to-be’s information.

6.)    Check out the forums for ways to stay on task, ideas to get you in the mood to write, just to chat or for assistance with your goal! Click Here: Forum Link

7.)    Let everyone know what you are doing!! Go to the “Camper Profile” tab and click the fourth link, “Badges.” This has pictures you can copy and paste onto your website or Facebook pages!

8.)    Send me a message if you want some encouragement along the way! Let me know what your goal is! My camper name is: Kyelena2. You can search for your friends by their camper names and send e-mails back and forth! Go to the “Camper Messages” tab and click the fourth link “Message A Camper” when the message opens begin typing their user name, and tadaa they should appear! (Just like magic!)

Camp NANOWRIMO is done two times a year. I’m sure you are wondering what NANOWRIMO stands for… I was!

NA- national, NO- novel, WRI- writing, MO- month

(National Novel Writing Month).

I started last November with NANOWRIMO, which is held in the month of November. In November the overall goal of writers is to write 50,000 words! If that isn’t your goal, you are labeled a “NANO REBEL” which just sounds like fun to me. (Believe me, there are a ton of rebels running around in there)

Of course you can do fun things with the members of your “Cabin” as well. Some ideas:

  1. My son and I are going to pitch a tent in my bedroom for me to write in, and him to read in. J
  2. There is a site that created achievable award badges which are downloadable photos! Here is the site: Achievement Badges!
  3. Skype, Google Hangouts, and web camming sites are also available to see each other virtually and allow you to take a break to chat.
  4.  Have seen people making boxes or calendars that have inspiring quotes to encourage them along.

For more information…a fellow blogger of mine Linda Thorlakson has written an amazing article about it.

Find it here: Linda Thorlakson

If you have any creative ideas, leave a comment!

If you decide to join me, I wish you only the best!

I almost forgot to include my goofy self in my new t-shirt!

A Poem: Flaming Beauty

A Poem: Flaming Beauty

The light within you flickers and sways,

It is not questioned, you always amaze.

Once decided on a path and a pace,

Your light shines brightly across your face.

You hold a beauty deep inside,

One that you should never hide.

Compassion, Strength, and Honesty,

Are all wrapped up for the world to see.

You are still young and full of hope,

Be prepared, life can be a slippery slope.

Be determined to get what you want,

I will applaud you, The Debutante!

Your beauty magnifies when you use your brain,

That will be your way to fame.

I will support all that you do,

Your life is chosen only by you.

A Poem: Sister or Daughter?

Sister or Daughter?

I feel that she is my best friend

She will be here for me until my end.

Sometimes I am overwhelmed by my motherly side.

Within me she knows, she can confide.

The feelings we share are often intense.

But, I don’t want her to take offense.

She is my sister, but also my daughter,

I never want my guidance to falter.

It’s hard to balance between the two.

Sometimes I just don’t know what to do.

I want to be her solid rock,

Like she is the key, and I, the lock.

Someone she can find when she feels all alone,

Someone she can call when she wants to come home.

When she is away,

The sadness fills my day.

When she returns,

My depression adjourns.

It’s like a part of me is missing,

And I’m stuck with reminiscing.

She magnifies my pride,

On that, I will and have never lied.

She is becoming an independent adult,

I can’t wait to see the result.

No matter the name she is called,

My love for her is already installed.

My little love,

You will always rise above.

When you need me, feel your heart beating,

I will be there forever and always give you a loving greeting.
